SOUTHERN REGION: TIME TO SIGN UP FOR INFORMATION SESSIONS
If you’re in the Southern Region of Oregon DI, it’s time to sign up for Information Meetings and/or trainings. Contact your Region Director, Joan Hladky, email@example.com
You can also obtain your membership and materials now by going to www.shopdi.org This year you pay all fees at one time.
This year’s challenges are exciting!
2014-15 kicks off / First Oregon teams are registered!
The DI program year started last week with the introduction of the new challenge materials. www.shopdi.org is open and team memberships can be purchased now. The challenges all look so great. Lots of twists and turns and FUN! Isn’t that how learning should be?
Here is some other news:
1) The Oregon DI website will be updated during the first week of August with correct contact information and news.
2) We have combined registration fees (national and state fees) so that only one payment will be required. We believe this will simplify the process for everyone purchasing a team membership.
3) Karen Koepl, a long time volunteer from Salem, will serve as the Affiliate Growth Director for ORDI. She just returned from the IGNITE Education Conference in Dallas, Texas where she gathered lots of materials for starting teams. She will initially focus her efforts in the North Valley area.
4) Oregon DI connected with several other great associations this summer. We hope these connections will yield us more interest and awareness of DI and that will mean MORE TEAMS!
As your new affiliate directors, Simon and Donna are excited to get started! We look forward to hearing from you!

Congratulations to the MAGICAL MOONFOXES from LAKE OSWEGO HIGH SCHOOL for highest Instant Challenge score in the secondary level of LAUGH ART LOUD, the fine arts challenge. Maybe they have started a tradition, as last year’s secondary team in the fine arts challenge brought home this very same award!
Enjoy their Global Finals performance on YouTube:
We are very proud of how well each and every Oregon team performed at Global Finals - both on and off the stage. You all represented us very well!
And here are the THEORIES OF DI-TIVITY from Village Home Resource Center, who brought home a third place in PANDEMONIUM, the improvisation challenge.
Here is the link to their award winning performance.
And while you are on YouTube, check out the other Oregon performances that have been posted.
GLOBAL FINALS 2014 was already well underway on Wednesday when Oregon entered Thompson-Boling arena for the Welcome Ceremony.
CONGRATULATIONS to Oregon’s first place teams. These teams, plus 6 wild card teams, qualified to move on to the next level of competition at GLOBAL FINALS 2014. Approximately 1200 teams are expected to descend on the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, May 21-24.
This list of Oregon teams represents a whole lot of CREATIVITY! We are very proud of all our Oregon teams!
CHECK IT OUT:
THANK YOU, KAREN!
Over the last 26 years, Karen Anderson has served as Affiliate Director for Oregon Destination, and before DI, Odyssey of the Mind. She has devoted thousands of hours to help kids across Oregon reach their full potential. She has managed hundreds of volunteers, and traveled to all parts of Oregon to teach creative problem-solving techniques to both students and adults who work with student teams. She has provided leadership and guidance to the Oregon Board of Directors. For the last eight years she has also served as a member of the Board of Trustees for Destination Imagination, Inc.
At the affiliate finals on April 5, Karen announced her retirement, effective June 30. We know Karen, and her husband, Marshall, will continue to stay involved in DI, as their oldest grandson was on a DI team this year! We are so grateful for all she has given to the students in Oregon. And we know she could not have done this without the support of Marshall and all of her family THANK YOU!
